The story behind us
Founded in June of 2022, OpenC3 is a company founded by the creators of Ball Aerospace COSMOS, and now OpenC3 COSMOS.
We created this company to give COSMOS the full-time attention it deserves, and to provide the world with a tool that allows anyone to easily connect different pieces of hardware together.
We primarily support the Aerospace industry with satellite I&T and operations...
But basically anywhere where embedded hardware is involved, COSMOS can provide a great platform to integrate all your pieces and "bring it all together".
The mission behind all our work
Connecting to various pieces of hardware should be easy.
You need to send commands, receive data, and log everything.
You need scripts to automate and coordinate the pieces of your system.
You shouldn't have to reinvent the wheel and come up with another one off, complex, and under featured solution.
COSMOS gets you off and running with all the functionality you need.
The Philosophy of OpenC3
All of products follow the following philosophy
Build for Humans then Machines
Our products are built with humans in mind first, and then machines. Configuration files should be easy to write by hand. User Interfaces should be clean and well organized.
Configuration Should Be Plain Text
Plain text files allow you to easily perform diffs and see what changed. Configuration shouldn't be hidden in a binary database, and impossible to see.
All Source Code Provided
Even with our commercially licensed products, users receive all the source code. Nothing should be so secret or proprietary that someone can't fix it themselves in the moment if they have to.
Log Everything
Log everything that happens. Every command sent. Every telemetry packet received. Every system event. Always be able to go back and figure out what happened.
