Catch Up on COSMOS 7.1 with OpenC3

The COSMOS you know and love just got better! The latest release of OpenC3 COSMOS, COSMOS 7.1, brings a suite of powerful updates designed to help you visualize and manage mission data more effectively than ever before.

In our latest video, OpenC3 CEO Ryan Melton, CTO Jason Thomas, CMO Chris Haller, and Staff Software Engineer Clay Kramp sat down to break down exactly what these changes mean for the open-source community as well as COSMOS Enterprise users.

What’s New in COSMOS 7.1?

This update isn't just about small tweaks; it’s about laying the groundwork for the future of satellite command and control. Here are the three pillars of the 7.1 release:

1. TSDB Metrics & Data Management

Data is the lifeblood of anymission. With 7.1, we’ve introduced enhanced Time Series Database (TSDB)Metrics. You can now gain instant visibility into partition sizes, row counts, and disk usage directly through the Admin Console.

Furthermore, we’ve streamlined Data Gap Analysis. You can now quickly identify missing telemetry and re-import that data directly from raw bin files, ensuring your mission history is complete and accurate.

2. Enterprise Sharding & Scalability

For our power users, we are i ntroducing Enterprise Sharding support. By utilizing ValKey and QuestDB, COSMOS is now prepared for massive scaling across Kubernetes clusters. This ensures that as your constellation or data needs grow, COSMOS grows with you without a hitch in performance.

3. Theming, App Store Plugins, and Much, Much More!

Beyond the backend improvements,we’ve rolled out several user-facing features

  • Theme Updates: A refreshed look and feel for a more modern workspace
  • Meet COSMO: Get to know the latest updates to our system's core
  • Map & Trending Analysis: New visual tools to help you track your assets in real-time and analyze trends across your historical data
